January 30th 2009 Back to School

Today is my first class. I will have a crazy schedule with work, school and rebuilding. YES, finally rebuilding. John picked up the engineered plans and they will be back at our draftsman, who is wonderful. Then off to the county for their first rejection. Here is a picture of my guys in their new shirts. Doc McCoy sent them because they all still love those GI Joe's.

Jan. 24th College Bound

Yes, it is true. Nick and I will be attending the same college. I start school this Friday. I need a refresher course to return to hospital work. I'm looking forward to it. It should be a diversion from the lack of progress on the house.

Last Sunday we celebrated Barry's 50 Something Birthday. There were nine people in the motor home. We brought out the card table just like when we were kids. We made our kids sit at it.

January 20, 2009 Finished Project

Well at least some progress has been made. I just finished this mosaic using recovered pieces of glass and pottery from our home. Each piece has a special meaning. It is 3ft. tall and took me a few months of classes to finish. It will hang in our great room some day. You can click on the photo for greater detail.

JUST HAVE TO SHARE! 1/16/09

For Christmas I bought Sam a "Triple Dog Dare You" shirt. For those of you that have seen the movie "A Christmas Story" you get the meaning. Well he never received it because I misplaced it. I can't imagine where it went. I was so disappointed because he would have gotten such a kick out of it. Last night I was sorting through a large bag of donated clothing. I pulled out the exact same shirt, brand new, with the tags still attached. It's the little things that bring us joy!

Today I was reminded to store my treasures in heaven, where moth or rust cannot destroy, OR mom can't lose it amongst all her other stuff.

Thursday, Jan. 15th

I got the news a few days ago that our Fire Recovery Center will be moving at the end of January. Our donation center has to close. Nick and I spent time there yesterday packing all the things up to be moved. We won't have our room anymore. What a bummer. So many families benefited from the free household items. I was getting overwhelmed with the work it took to keep the place organized, so I guess it was good timing to have it come to an end for now. Still no news on the house plans. Patience, patience, patience, my new mantra. I always like to add a picture. Since I don't think anyone wants to see the one of Tigger eating a mouse I put this silly one of Preston on.

Monday Morning Jan. 12, 2009

We returned to a truckload of mail and a lot to attend to. Our engineering draftsman was ill for several weeks so we still do not have house plans. Kourtney has had a major surgery and is at UCLA Medical Center. It's her first step toward a multi-organ transplant. Please pray for her recovery. For those of you who don't know her, she is my 6 year old primary patient. I'll be busy looking for work and John will be starting the taxes, again. It seems like we just went through this. Our insurance company has basically told us to "pound sand" regarding our under-insurance claim, but all we have is dirt and burned brush!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!

We celebrated the New Year in Virginia and Buffalo. My resolution is to get my house built and live by the following bible verse. Romans 12:12, Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer. Patience is NOT one of my virtues so I will be working hard at developing that trait. I'm sure I will have plenty of opportunities.
